New Zealand Visitor Visa preparation

Use this summary to prepare questions and organise your file. Your application route and the authority’s current checklist determine the complete requirements.

  • Passport and an acceptable photograph.
  • Evidence of funds for your stay or an acceptable sponsor.
  • An onward ticket or sufficient funds to buy one, separate from living expenses.
  • Relationship evidence for a partner or dependent children included in the application.
  • Health, police and translated documents where your circumstances or the application checklist require them.

From 1 October 2026, Visitor Visa applications must be made online. Immigration New Zealand recommends waiting for approval before booking non-refundable travel.
